I recently took delivery of two outstanding new guitars from our friends
at Waterstone Guitars. These
guitars are absolutely superb and are extremely versatile for any guitarists
arsenal. On first viewing the guitars, the finish and craftsmanship immediately
struck me of somebody who takes pride in their product. the JMAS (photo
on the left) even makes my Rickenbackers finish seem dull in comparison.
It is a great guitar that wouldn't look out of place with a certain Mr.
Weller who has been leaning on Telecasters for his recent outings. The
sound of this guitar is amazing, plenty of sustain to keep those notes
hanging but also with alot of depth and a deep bottom end. I still haven't
explored all that I can do on this guitar. The fit just feels right, the
neck works perfectly and theres plenty of room to find your way around
the frets. With the body binding and the unique routered f hole this guitar
is stunning. |
The
suprise and hidden gem was the Mildred signature series guitar
(photo on the right). This is a hot rod! or if you like, a scooterboys
dream of a paint job with its limited addition Red Sparkle finish.
Again the fit and finish is outstanding. I'm familiar with what
the P-90 pickups can do with also owning a Casino, but this guitar
took me by suprise, it has so much depth which I should expect
from a hollow body arch top, this thing booms in a good way. Again
versitilty is the key, you can tear up the fret board or go for
the tone and hit the Jazz paved streets.
I'd like to thank Bob and the rest of the Waterstone Guitar team for allowing
me the chance to preview these guitars. I know there are many more exciting
things going to come from this guitar company, I for one am excited about
the prospects. This is a company who not only builds quality instruments
but also have mod tendencies so don't be suprised what you may see in the
future. Until then visit Waterstone
Guitars website and remember you heard it here first. |
